Law Degree (Master of Law - Lic. Jur) in 1975. at the University of Antwerp ( with honours).
Special courses in financing techniques organized by the National Bank of Belgium and various management and commercial training courses;
1975 – 1985 admission and apprenticeship period at the Brussels Bar and private practice, interrupted by a period (1988-19989) as senior legal advisor attached to the cabinet of the Belgian Minister for Finance & Budget, followed by period of private practice;
1986- 1988 senor consultant with Arthur young Management Consultant in export & finance Services ;
1988 – 1994 in house legal counsel at BOELWERF Shipyards, responsible for financing of shipbuilding projects for a total value o over 1 billion Euro as well as or the negotiation, closing and follow up of all contracting agreements;
1994 rejoined the Antwerp Bar as member of the law firm SCHILTZ LINDEN GROLIG , responsible for the contracting department;
From November 2001 co- founder & partner of Laurius Advocates ( www.laurius.be) a law firm specialized in legal service to commerce & industry; responsible for project contracting & financing work.
Closely involved as head of the legal service of BOELWERF Shipyards in the contracting and financing of numerous shipbuilding contracts for commercial vessels, specialized vessels (LPG & LNG) and off-shore structures, drilling rigs and service, diving, supply and pipe-laying vessels
Conducted the negotiations and the contract drafting, risk management, insurance and financing work involved in the construction of numerous industrial plants .
Advised and assisted as Belgian contractors in the negotiation and closing of a contract for the prefabrication and installation of pipe spools destined for the NATO pipeline.
Various legal contracting and financing work for oil refineries in the Antwerp Port area.
Advised and assisted a Scandinavian group in a project for the construction and financing of a multiple purpose off-shore production vessel, destined for production and transportation of oil with patented techniques.
Part of the financing scheme was based on bartering the produced oil, involving hedging techniques.
Assisted clients in the financing of coal/oil /gas project in the Canadian Artic.
Assistance was given in the financial engineering, combining bilateral and multilateral financing ( EBRD) together with mezzanine financing, secured by concession rights and pledging of future production. A tailor - made security structure was worked out in order to make the financing sources available.
Since the liberation of the European Energy Market, involved in energy contracting with respect to supply, transportation and logistics in electricity & gas contracts, exclusively as an advisor to big consumers in the EU market.
